During the stumps on the second day of the game, Dinesh Chandimal is at the crease scoring 34 and Dhananjay D Silva 23 runs.
Earlier, the West Indies started playing ahead of their yesterday’s score of 287/7.
The pair of captain Craig Brathwaite and Rahkim Cornwall shared a tremendous partnership for the eighth wicket. Both batsmen together made a brilliant partnership of 103 runs.
Cornwall played a brilliant innings of 73 runs with the help of 10 fours and 1 six off 92 balls.
Brathwaite scored 126 runs off 311 balls. Suranga Lakmal took the maximum 4 wickets from Sri Lanka, while Dushmantha Chameera took 3 wickets.
Sri Lanka’s innings strong after the initial shaking
In response, the Sri Lankan team started batting was not a good start. Opener and captain Dimuth Karunaratne returned to the pavilion for a score of 18 runs.
He was able to score only 1 run. Lahiru Thirimane and Oshada Fernando added 46 runs for the second wicket. Thirimanne scored 55 and Fernando scored 18 runs.
After losing the third wicket on a score of 77, Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjay D Silva handled the innings.
The two batsmen have so far shared a brilliant 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Both these players would like to have a big partnership so that they can get an edge over the host team in the first innings and can put pressure in their names.
